Hikers basecamp Estonia! Your home between Estonia's best hiking trails!

Guided by nature. hosted like family.

Welcome to  a place where every adventure begins.

Located just 50 minutes from Tallinn in the heart of North Kõrvemaa Nature Reserve, Basecamp Estonia is a welcoming home for hikers, cyclists, backpackers, nature photographers, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone looking to experience Estonia beyond the city.

Whether you arrive by train, bicycle, campervan or on foot, you'll find everything you need before and after your adventure.

Here, you can spend the night in a historic farmhouse, camp beneath the pine trees, enjoy a traditional wood-fired sauna, meet fellow travellers, rent outdoor equipment, join guided nature experiences or simply relax around the campfire after a day on the trail.

More than accommodation, Basecamp Estonia is a place to connect with nature, local people and the outdoor community.

A Historic Farm in the Heart of the Wilderness

Basecamp Estonia is located at Uuejärve Farm, surrounded by more than 20 hectares of private forest within the Natura 2000 protected area. The forests around the farm are home to an impressive variety of wildlife, including Ural Owl, Pygmy Owl, Hazel Grouse, Black Woodpecker, Brandt's Bat and many rare orchids and protected plant species.

The farm itself has a remarkable story.

During Estonia's first independence, Uuejärve became one of the country's largest silver fox farms. Hundreds of silver foxes were bred here during the 1930s, while the farmhouse, built in 1932, served as the family's home.

Following the Second World War, the entire region became part of a Soviet military training area and remained closed to the public for almost fifty years. Ironically, this restricted access helped preserve one of Estonia's most valuable natural landscapes.

Today, those former military forests have become a paradise for hikers, wildlife enthusiasts and nature lovers.

Basecamp Estonia is now home to Marilin Pehka, professional nature guide, mountaineer and outdoor educator, who welcomes visitors from around the world to discover Estonia through authentic local experiences.
